Myths of Cloth
To create the collection “Myths of Cloth” the artist has inspired by varying schools and styles, such as art-nouveau and pop-art. Portraits of personalities that marked the 20th century on irregular pieces of fabric build a true patchwork quilt. Elvis Presley, Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Santos Dumont, Einstein are part of the exhibition, plus a number of nudes, in the same style. The artist also honours Pope Benedict XVI, during his visit to Brazil, creating 4 versions in varied styles, one of them was a gift of the First Lady, Dona Marisa Letícia da Silva, for the Supreme Pontiff. Another honour is to Frei Galvão, the first Brazilian saint (newly canonized) with a mixed technique of patchwork, the artist makes the portrait and delivers the work in the Museum of Sacred Art, where the chapel of the saint is located, and other in the monastery of the Light.
